Series of 21 photographs and 10 digital collages
    inkjet prints, b/w and color
    variable dimensions

“Surplus” explores the intersection of photography and technology, focusing on how advances in technology are reshaping both the formal elements of images and the notion of synthetic images, such as computer-generated graphics. As digital tools continuously shape how we perceive and create visual content, the series offers a critical reflection that questions the status of the image in contemporary visual culture.
The series consists primarily of abstract compositions that are achieved without digital manipulation or post-production editing. Rather, these works are created by layering surfaces present in the original scenes or by combining and superimposing multiple photographs with monochromatic layers.
Each image is titled after a Photoshop tool, establishing a direct dialogue between traditional photographic techniques and the tools that are synonymous with digital image manipulation.
“Surplus” responds to contemporary digital trends and the codes they generate in public, private, and virtual spheres. These digital codes serve not only as aesthetic references but also as starting points for a new visual language. By engaging with these codes, the series prompts a deeper reflection on how digital culture transforms both the production and consumption of images.
